Sucena Hortencia

 

Sucena is an all-round specialist with a focus on commercial contract law, administrative (litigation) law, private law, construction law, event law and criminal law.

Sucena received two Master's degrees from Leiden University, majoring in Civil Law and Criminal and Criminal Procedure Law

During her studies, Sucena devoted herself to various study and student associations. Continuing the commitment to give more in her career, Sucena served for years as secretary and later president of the Young Bar Association Curaçao.

Conceiving and advising on legislative proposals is also a (core) practice she has developed over the past 10 years. Sucena is a true litigator and strategist who, as a member of the Dutch Caribbean Committee of the Dutch Arbitration Association, applies alternative modes of dispute resolution in her daily practice.

Sucena has a post graduate degree in fundamental and moral theology that she puts to good use in legal practice for thoughtful out-of-the-box approaches, strategies, outgoing human thinking.

In her spare time, Sucena is a guest lecturer at the University of Curacao and University of the Dutch Caribbean and holds a board position in the Foundation for the Professional Training of Lawyers. Born and raised in Curaçao, Sucena likes to contribute to society by doing various volunteer work and projects with and for young people.
