LET’S GO FOR A GREEN X-MAS!
In a world where white Christmases are fading into memory, Murray flips the script towards a more vibrant, green future with Christmas cards that morph into lush herbal gardens. Made from thyme, oregano and basil seeds, these cards are more than heartfelt Christmas wishes; they are a heartfelt statement against climate change.
Let's make our planet cooler, one card at a time!
How to make the magic happen
Don’t have a green thumb? Join the club! Luckily, we know some people who do. Follow these instructions to get your herbal garden going.
Step 1: Soak the card
Start by really soaking your card. We’re talking seriously wet – enough to start breaking down the paper and freeing the seeds to begin their growth journey. Now put it in your chosen spot (or rip it up and pick multiple spots): a garden bed, a balcony pot or even indoors. These herbs thrive in bright and warm places but shield them from harsh, direct sunlight to prevent the paper from drying out and stalling seed germination.
Step 2: Lightly cover with soil
Lightly cover the paper with about 1 to 1.5 cm of soil. We don’t want to overwhelm the seeds with too much dirt, giving them just enough room to access sunlight, crucial for sprouting. So keep it light and balanced.
Step 3: Water… Again?
Yes. Apparently, these seeds are super thirsty. Especially the first few days, water frequently to keep the soil damp. For an even spread, use a spray bottle as it is the best way to ensure all seeds receive their fair share. If you're using a watering can or a cup, make sure to cover the whole area.
Step 4: Patience and care. But mostly patience.
You should see the first shoots in about a week. As they begin to grow, adjust your watering to ensure the plants stay hydrated and happy, but not waterlogged.
That’s it!
Ready, set, grow!
Show and share your shoots
We're all about sharing the fruits (or herbs) of our labor. Once we have our shoots going, we’ll share some pics on our Facebook page. Feel free to share yours in the comments or mail them to us.
